Dial 2-1-1 to speak with an information and referral specialist 24 hours a day.  United Way 2-1-1 of Manasota has the most up-to-date and comprehensive information about available programs and services in Manatee County.

Domestic Violence

HOPE Family Services
This agency provides a Safe Shelter, free counseling for adults and children, advocacy, and food and clothing to those effected by domestic violence.

Turning Points
This agency coordinates the One-Stop Center which provides homeless information and referral, day resource services, and rental assistance.

Our Daily Bread
This agency provides free daily meals to homeless and to all who are hungry.  Meals are served between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., 7 days a week, excluding Thanksgiving and Christmas.

The Salvation Army
This agency provides emergency overnight shelter, as available, for men, women and children.  Evening meals are served daily at 5:00 pm.

Suncoast Partnership to End Homelessness
This agency is the designated Continuum of Care agency dealing with homelessness and homeless prevention issues in Manatee and Sarasota Counties.

This agency provides immigration information, help with credit issues, and provides emergency assistance funds as available.

Health, Mental Health and Substance Abuse

Manatee County Rural Health Services
This agency offers medical care at locations throughout Manatee County, including family practice, pediatrics, OB/GYN, chiropractic, dentistry, podiatry, mental health, wellness, infectious disease care, acute care, vision, internal medicine and lab services.  A sliding fee scale is based on household income.

We Care
This agency prequalifies low income citizens to receive specialized medical care donated by participating doctors in our community.  The Agency also offers a Free Clinic at the One-Stop Center (701 17th Ave. W., Bradenton, FL  34205).

Manatee Glens
This agency provides free assessment and referral services, and assists with mental health and substance abuse issues (alcoholism, drug abuse) affecting children and adults.  Services are provided at various locations throughout the County.

Legal Assistance

Legal Aid of Manasota
This agency provides free legal services to low income individuals and families in Sarasota and Manatee counties who cannot afford to pay an attorney. Local lawyers donate their time and expertise in the areas of domestic violence, family law, foreclosure, guardianship, landlord/tenant, senior wills, pro-bono legal services to non-profit agencies and other legal services. Monthly community education classes are also offered.

Gulfcoast Legal Services
This agency provides legal help to income eligible residents with housing and mortgage foreclosure problems, family or domestic violence issues, immigration matters, SSI/disability and consumer matters. Gulfcoast Legal Services also has a special project to help seniors in Pinellas, Manatee and Sarasota Counties.

Women’s Resource Center
This agency provides counseling, networking, computer and employment training/coaching, and a career closet to women in transition.

Meals on Wheels Plus
This agency provides nutritious meals and other services to home bound, elderly, and disabled individuals.  It also provides an Adult Day Center for functionally impaired older adults.

Myakka City Community Center
This agency provides the Super Senior & Special People program to help seniors age 55 and over, and individuals age 18 and over with special needs, to develop a sense of community and self-worth.  It also delivers lunches to those who are home bound.

Programs to Assist with Disabilities: Developmental

Easter Seals of Southwest Florida
This agency provides services and programs that empower individuals with disabilities and their families. Services include adult day training, children’s respite, children’s therapy, creative arts and employment services.

United Cerebral Palsy of Sarasota-Manatee
The agency provides services to children at risk of developmental delays and adults with developmental disabilities, including those with developmental disabilities including cerebral palsy, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy, mental retardation, Down syndrome, autism and other disabilities. Services include group homes, adult day training, transportation services and advocacy/referral services.

Community Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
The Agency provides sign language interpretation services and telephone access equipment for the deaf and hard of hearing. It also conducts workshops and training programs in Manatee and Sarasota Counties.

Suncoast Center for Independent Living, Inc.
The agency provides the professional support and services to help individuals with all types of disabilities to develop the necessary skills to live independently and to thrive within the community. Services include: Advocacy, Independent Living Skills Training, Information and Referral, Equipment Loans, Home Modification, Peer Counseling and Computer Equipment Loan and Repair.
