The bill modifies language in their sexual offender statute to be more specific. The change comes in response to a lawsuit that the language was too vague.<\/p>\n<p>The amended language is below. If you live in Jacksonville, these laws will apply to you:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cIt is unlawful for any Sexual Offender or Sexual Predator to participate in any practice or event, including, but not limited to, any event related to a nationally or locally recognized holiday or seasonal event, if such practice or event <del>involves<\/del> <u>is primarily targeted toward <\/u>non-familial children<del> and includes activities, such as distributing candy or other items<\/del>.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>A clarification of the ban on Holiday displays by that class of criminals, \u201cif such display <del>could or would<\/del>\u00a0<u>is primarily targeted to<\/u> entice, attract, or lure a child onto<del>, or nearer to,<\/del> any residence, <u>or<\/u>property, <u>or onto or nearer to any <\/u>vehicle or vessel rented, owned or occupied by such person.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>An addition of \u201cprimarily targeted toward children\u201d to the extant definition of display: \u201cDisplay is defined as any decoration including, but not be limited to, lighting, figurines, posters, artwork, crystals, bales of hay, scarecrows, etc. which is visible to the public in plain view<u> and is primarily targeted toward children.\u201d<\/u><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Originally Posted by fac-admin on May 4, 2016 Jacksonville Bill 2016-233 was passed.
