I am actually a member of an agency called 2 luv 1 another that houses SO, works with AZ/DOC parole & Probation, and provides social services. Currently there are multiple properties that have 5 other SO in each and a larger property with 3 units and in total have 42 residence in total. My fiance will be getting out of prison in October and has to register as a sex offender, I will be notifying my landlord per my lease agreement, “when having another individual move in” the lease-agreement says, “you must notify the landlord.” So I will be notifying my landlord to make him aware of my fiance moving in & having to register at the address i am currently renting. My question is. If my landlord decides to break the renters agreement due to my fiance being an SO what are some legal actions I need to be aware of? Like are there any laws in AZ about discriminating against sex offenders when it comes to housing? What do i need to know before disclosing info to landlord. Because to find someone out there that lives by forgive and forget is rare. Sex offenders are ALL looked at as child molesters. Most do not know what happened, how it happened, and what led to the act. Police discriminate and treat you different when they find out you are a SO. A murderer can serve him time get out of jail or prison, and not have his or her name plastered all over the web, the neighborhood you live in, fliers passed out to everyone around you. I believe that if you pay your debts to society as a SO, why do not have the same rights as others. I whole heartedly feel that all this we have to go through puts our life in danger, and opens us up to a lot that is bad in this world. I did not molest, touch, kill, rape or expose myself or anything like that and I am looked at as if I did. I am sick that I cannot get a good job, date, even see my kids for a long time due to this. The law makes it so you cannot move on with your life. My police department put me on the SO website here, and they put my crime down wrong on the site, and the police said that’s the way it is and I am close to suing the police to change it. Also I got put in as a level 2, when the level 1 offenders touched, exposed and did other things. Those that posses child porn and those that rape or have sex with a child or someone under the age of 18 are processed under the same scope of the law. How the hell can someone that looks at a photo and one that rapes have the same punishment, does not make sense. I was going through depression, and other things that led me to do what I did, but I not use that as an excuse and I took responsibility for what I did and took a plea, served my time in jail and I am on probation. I will pay for this crime the rest of my life like no other crime I could have done. I could go on but I will stop here.

My GOD what a horrible situation I have found myself in!!! After reading the messages on here I have come to realize even more that people like us are doomed! I just released from federal prison 4 weeks ago after 10 years to Tucson, AZ., I have a bachelor degree in business, have only had 2 jobs that lasted 20 years and I have found myself alone, homeless, and jobless and no where to turn. I sure hope that more people come to their senses and start helping us out. One would think that the “public” would want us all housed and working and not wondering the streets. Being homeless and a sex offender sucks, trust me I been there done that. All he would have to do is register on a street corner every three months. If he changes street corners he would have to go back to the court house and update his new street corner. Make sure he is at that street corner every night.

When completing my birthmonth registration the deputy said something intriguing, “since you’re getting ousted anyway, try looking into states where they more recently instituted the SO laws. If your crime occurred before it was a passed law in the state/district/county/etc then they cannot place you under restriction.” This sounds far too easy or I have just been living under a rock. If anyone has documentation to this effect, please share it.
I know that I just moved down here. My charge was pressed right after my 19th birthday and my son’s mom was still 16. In Iowa I don’t even have to register anymore but as soon as I moved to Arizona I’m on the registry for life. Smh….

My husband & I are in a very similar situation. But he is now 66 with dementia. Because of our homelessness, & the issues that have resulted from it , he is now in the ICU, fighting for his life. Still the local resource center that’s supposed to help us doesn’t do anything but make excuses why they won’t help, & basically doesn’t seem to care about whether we live or die

I don’t get it. A murderer can get housing help easily but a sex offender can’t ? My son had just literally turned 18 in 2001 and was wrongfully set up and charged with touching a miner child under the age of 7.. now here it is 22 yrs later and is now a level 3 only because of being in prison 4 times and only one charge had anything to do with his original charge and he spent 2 1/2 yrs in prison for violating probation. He has been beaten, raped and seriously tortured for something he did not do… Now the mother of that child recently admitted in writing on messenger that he was set up from the beginning.. people are so messed up…. and trying to find housing is next to impossible….in 2007 I moved 8 times in less than 3 yrs to keep him from being homeless… the people of AZ can get housing if they had been or are ” a

I know the feeling I’ve moved bout 8 times in 2 years cause of my husbands charges that he was falsely convicted of. No one wants to rent to us we been living in motels hopping from motel to motel and now we getting evicted from the motel we’re at cuz of a flyer that states the wrong convictions first of all and was falsely convicted of. I been with him 24 years I have children with him never once did I believe he ever did any of it. No physical evidence he past Polly graph and still got convicted. He is an innocent man that wouldn’t even hurt a fly. He’s got the biggest heart ever but because someone wanted to destroy his life and made a false story up his life is falling apart and I am first to see it. I hate the system.

Hi. I feel you pain. I too am a sex offender here in Tucson AZ . Luckily I was able to find a place. But I go through the same crap every day by people who don’t know the truth about what happened to me. I have lived with this crime for over 24 years, but there may be a way you or anyone else can find housing. If you try to find a private owner who doesn’t care about your past . Hopefully this information may help you. Ok . Please don’t give up. You will find a home.
Why not give us the death penalty? I feel that the American people I’m more into torture that Mercy. They congratulate hate, when it comes to sex offenders. Involuntary gave 27 years of my life. I get it I did 23years in prison and juvenile prison I have been crime fee 13 years and off parole for 3 and I can’t find work or housing I don’t get high and live like a slave just for renting a tool like my cell and food. I get some people need supervision but I changed everything in my life and it’s still not good enough for uncle sam. I have lived at my apartment for 14 years plus, and a new neighbor above me is harassing me since she moved in 6 months ago, due to my SO status. I have called 911 to get officers out here, and my owner has talked to her only 2 times. At my apartment the new landlord refuse let sex crimes to live on this property where I live for 5 years and I told a friend (he’s sex offender) to come here to apply somehow the new landlord refuse let him to apply because he is sex crime . It had been a rough 4 months since they changed the laws now all lvl 1 will show up.
